Research
My professional experience includes time as a faculty member at Loyola University Chicago, where I conducted NIH-funded research evaluating interventions for youth and supported the clinical training of graduate students in the Clinical Psychology PhD program.
My translational research program focused on youth and family assets and evaluation of mental health interventions. Several of my studies identified youth, family, and cultural assets that inform intervention programming. I worked to translate this research to school- and community-based intervention. I partnered with school and community leaders, administrators, clinicians, and parents to implement and evaluate interventions that promote youth and family mental health. My recent work included examining a strength-based intervention for refugee and immigrant youth designed to promote mental health during resettlement. I also collaborated with colleagues to evaluate a school-wide approach to enhancing resilience and improving school climate and connectedness. I published a book in 2018 dedicated to school-based interventions for youth who have experienced trauma.
I currently continue to publish with collaborators and am available to consult on program evaluation efforts. Read more about my prior academic work here.
